Police officials who rushed to the spot pacified the parents and students and promised to attend to their needs.
According to the parents, even though Bhagwan Municipal School at Shankar Nagar in Mettupalayam has been upgraded to High school. However, no basic amenities including toilet, playground and infrastructure facilities are provided to the students.
“All our complaints to the education department officials and the District administration fell on deaf ears. The adolescent girl students are particularly put to hardship, as no toilet facilities are available for the students now. They have to undergo extreme hardship during the menstrual cycle to which the school authorities remained as mute spectators” said the agitated parents.
“We would launch a series of agitations, if the school authorities do not extend basic amenities to girl students” the parents said.
